A Guide to Shopping for a Tablet
For many people, shopping for any new item of technology is one of the biggest investments they will ever make. Not only are they likely to spend a large amount of money but their new piece of kit, be it a laptop, a tablet or a new PC is expected to perform several vital tasks and last them a considerable period of time.
Therefore, when considering the number of cheap tablet deals which are available, it is important for the smart technology buyer to remember a few very important considerations – which could help them to make the best long term decision for them and their needs.
Apple or Android
One of the most widely available and popular tablets on the market is the apple iPad, and as a result of this popularity, it is often the first choice for cheap tablet deals. However, popularity does not always give an indication of quality or compatibility. Therefore, it is essential for users to consider their own needs when choosing the right tablet for them.
Although the iPad has positive reviews and many faithful users, there are just as many faithful users and positive reviews for rival machines such as those available from Google, Acer, Amazon and Samsung to name but a few. Whether choosing a new or refurbished tablet, taking a step away from Apple could give many people access to additional functions not to mention much better cheap tablet deals.
Screen Size
Of course, screen size is one of the most important considerations. The majority of tablets tend to come in two sizes, either 7 inch or ten inch (note, the screen size refers to the measurement from corner to corner rather than top to bottom or left to right). Whilst the smaller sizes are often marketed as being more portable, the larger screens are sold on the basis that they make reading or typing easier for the user.
There are many pros and cons to the use of both size screens, and of course the screen sizes which fall outside of these two standards. However, the choice is often down to the individual user as they and they alone know what they want and which size suits them and their requirements better.
Wifi or 3G
This is often the feature which flummoxes the novice user, however when the choices are explained, even the least technologically advanced is able to make a choice. The choice between Wifi and 3G gives the user the ability to choose how they wish to access the internet. Wifi refers to the ability to access the internet at home, through your own broadband supplier, or on the go in Wifi hotspots, while 3G (and now 4G and EE) allows users to access the internet wherever they are through an account they have with a network provider. They can either buy this, as they might with a mobile phone, through a Dongle or Pay As You Go arrangement or through the use of a contract.
